Marita Bolles is a composer whose music tends towards non-linear narratives that can be startling and dramatic. Her music engages listeners through expression, emotion, and a palpable essence, a distinct sensibility. She is currently working on pieces based on Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, including a suite for the Zeitgeist ensemble, in addition to the development of multi-media projects involving music, text, and painting, to be experienced in an intimate, personal, even individual space. Her most recent work explores a process that integrates a state of conscious play into purposeful composition.
